We’ve already returned to the pastoral beauty of Lorwyn, cracked spellbooks at Strixhaven, and watched the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Avengers throw down in card form. The result is a stack of cardboard that costs more than most used cars.
Using data from TCGplayer, here are the most valuable cards from 2026 so far. Some of these prices might make you wince. Others might make you dig through your old collection hoping you got lucky.
Thanos, The Mad Titan — Borderless — $240
Thanos is the first card from the Marvel Super Heroes set to crack the list, and it’s fitting. The borderless comic cover version sits around $240. As a 4/4, it uses the set’s new mechanic to wipe half the battlefield, which is basically the Infinity Gauntlet snap in game form. It’s not the priciest card here, but it’s the kind of card that makes Commander players nervous in the best way.

It’s a solid card, but the real value here is the art. The Fracture Foil treatment makes the card look like it’s cracking apart, which fits a mutated turtle villain pretty well.
Bloom Tender — Showcase Fracture Foil — $350
The only card from the Lorwyn Eclipsed set on this list, Bloom Tender’s Showcase Fracture Foil is around $350. Bloom Tender is a classic “mana dork” that taps for each color among permanents you control. If you’ve ever built a green deck that wants to do something big and stupid, you’ve probably wanted one of these. The Fracture Foil treatment makes it look like it’s glowing from within, which is appropriate for a card that basically prints mana.

Jeska’s Will — JP Alt Art Silver Scroll Foil — $505
Jeska’s Will is an iconic red spell that either lets you add red mana for each card in an opponent’s hand, or exile the top three cards of your library to play this turn. If you control your commander, you get both effects. This Japanese alt art version is the first card on this list to break $500. It’s the kind of card that makes red players feel like they’re playing a different game.
Vampiric Tutor — JP Alt Art Silver Scroll Foil — $730
One mana and two life to put any card from your deck on top of your library. That’s the deal with Vampiric Tutor, and it’s been a staple in competitive formats for decades. This Japanese alt art version will set you back $730. It’s a lot for a card that technically doesn’t do anything by itself, but in the right hands, it’s a game-winner.
Force of Will — JP Alt Art Silver Scroll Foil — $985
Force of Will is the king of free countermagic. Pay 1 life and exile a blue card from your hand, and you can counter any spell. This Japanese alt art version is hovering around $985, which is actually a drop from its previous $1,150 high. It’s still the most expensive card in the Mystical Archive, and it’s not hard to see why. Force of Will is the kind of card that defines formats.

I thought this would be the top card, but The Mind Stone and its $1,600 price tag only gets it to number three. It’s an indestructible artifact in White from the Marvel sets, and there’s a super-limited version that hasn’t been found yet. When that version surfaces, expect it to jump to the top spot. For now, this is a very expensive rock that lets you draw cards and mess with your opponents’ plans.
Gold-Stamped Signature Turtles — $2,000 to $2,900
The four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles got special versions signed by franchise creator Kevin Eastman. The prices vary by turtle: Leonardo, Sewer Samurai is $2,900; Donatello, Mutant Mechanic is $2,766; Raphael, Ninja Destroyer is $2,175; and Michelangelo, Improviser is $2,000. These are collector’s items first and playable cards second, but if you’re a TMNT fan with deep pockets, this is the ultimate flex.
Emeritus of Ideation — Retro Frame, Serial-numbered — $3,000
Topping the list is Emeritus of Ideation, a card from Strixhaven’s Secrets of Strixhaven set. This serial-numbered retro frame version is functionally identical to the $7 version, but it staples a powerful Prepared spell (Ancestral Recall) to a 5/5 creature with flying and ward 2. It’s worth $3,000 right now, which makes it the most expensive card of 2026 so far. If you pulled one, congratulations. You just won the lottery.
2026 has been a banner year for Magic: The Gathering in terms of sheer card value. Between the Marvel crossover, the TMNT set, and the return to fan-favorite planes, Wizards of the Coast has given collectors plenty of reasons to open their wallets. Whether these prices hold or crash depends on supply, demand, and how many people actually want to play with these cards versus just displaying them. But for now, if you have any of these in your collection, you’re sitting on a small fortune.
